The Turlock Irrigation District sought to modernize its system to improve reliability and resilience. And the utility needed to set its priorities for the work ahead. The grid modernization plan included assets, informational and operational technology systems, and business processes. A well-thought-out plan also needed to accommodate mandates for renewables and clean energy and to support the continued emergence of Distributed Energy Resources and electric vehicles.
Brett Bodine, Electrical Engineering and Operations Department Manager at TID, walked webinar participants through the utility’s historic emphasis on power quality, safety and customer satisfaction. He also emphasized the importance of grid modernization for electric, water, and civil assets at TID.
Chris Erpelding and Larry Wilke from POWER Engineers joined Brett to discuss the approach used to outline TID’s requirements. From there the many individual steps were prioritized into an overall roadmap that allowed TID to move forward with confidence.
